The wine from vintage 2006 shows dark cherry and spiced plum aromas most intensely, with undercurrents of cedar, bay, oak leaf…the aromas of the steep forested mountains which surround the vineyard. On the palate, the wine is rich, soft, and lush, yet retains fresh fruit acidity and a sense of balance. Harvesting the grapes when the tannins are completely mature gives this wine a luscious, satiny quality that adds weight and a bit of sweet juiciness to the midpalate without detracting from the grace and balance of the wine. The dry, rocky soils and dearth of vineyard irrigation are evidenced in the overall sense of power and concentration that defines the palate from start to finish.
